“The impact of economic crisis on mental health”

Behavioural Health has been one of the areas most affected by the current economic crisis. Many countries have seen their Public Health budget reduced due to the crisis, and behavioural health is often not counted as one of its priorities. Economic recessions have a negative impact on the mental health of the population due to several factors, especially to those who become unemployed or have a higher risk of becoming so. The economic crisis has also magnified the vulnerability of population groups of a lower socioeconomic status. Consequently, policies and strategies for the integration of behavioural care and services will need to observe this eventual increase of the demand.

The goal of the IV International Summit Soma&Psy is to analyse and discuss the impact of the crisis from different perspectives: epidemiological, prevention and therapeutic.

The Soma&Psy Summit was created with the aim to animate and provide answers to the debate about the integration of mental health into physical health care from different angles and disciplines. The speakers and moderators of the summit are people with vast experience in the subject, and will provide different views and approaches with the aim to generate a rich conversation. It has been collaboratively organised by Centre Psychiatrique Saint-Bernard (Belgium), Parc Sanitari Sant Joan de Déu (Barcelona, Spain), Fondation de Nant (Vaud, Switzerland) and the Consorci Hospitalari de Vic (Vic, Spain).
